Pictures from The Asylum 2011

From the Journal of Dr Damion Jones

November 1, 2011

As I write, The Asylum is being pulled back into it's own dimension.  The patient's are all exhausted and sleeping soundly their tummies full and appetites satisfied.   The staff has already began whispering about next year.  By tomorrow, I will have a new page added to my home here on the internet with pictures and sounds from this year.  I have withheld posting very much because I did not want to give away much of what was inside.  But each year The Asylum grows and changes so there is no problem sharing that with you now.  For the people that read my journal.  I am humbled and touched more than you will know.  I have decided to begin telling you the story of The Asylum and with it the story of my life.  So check back in a couple of weeks and the first chapter of the story will be posted.  It is time for me to go for now, Little Eugene is not happy about leaving and is trying to escape.

It is the beginning of the weekend preceding all hallows eve and the patients are more excited than ever.  I am only grateful that it will not be a full moon this year.  The last time....poor little Eugene did not survive.  Oh and he has completely escaped his casket now and goodness only knows where you will find him.  Franklin has escaped and was last seen in the maze.  If you encounter him....well, just better to keep your hands away from his mouth he will eat anyone.  We keep having a problem with husbands and boyfriends running off and leaving their women.  It is a sad thing really but the men do get so frightened.  IT is time to go, time is short and there is much to do before you arrive.

Tonight at 9:00 PM on Paranormal TV there is a spot running on The Asylum.  I am sorry I have not updated sooner, but seems things have been a little "insane" around here.  Let me begin by thanking all of the people that braved the thunderstorm Saturday night to come and see us.  We have the best visitors in the world.  But none of what we do would be possible without an amazing staff of volunteers who find a level of energy and make your experience so amazing.  Below are some of the pictures taken this year.  I have been hesitant to add more just because I don't want to give away any of the best stuff.   I will add more over this weekend so check back.  I realize making them where you can't enlarge them is cheating, but as I said....I want there to be surprises.  For those who have been through more than once, you have noted that things change weekly.  We do move things around and add and change patients, and this weekend will be no different.   There is no bigger thrill than hearing someone who has visited us before screaming "I swear, that was not here when I came through last week!!!"  I would love to record what people say as they leave meeting Mother Agnes, or Little Franklin in the maze, but some of the language makes even me blush.  We look forward to seeing you soon!!

I am left almost speechless by our visitors.  The reactions are so much more than I ever anticipated.  Unlike other similar attractions I do not seek to give numbers on the reactions of out guests.  We have found it necessary to implement a plan on how to help you exit the maze should you become too overwhelmed to continue.  For those who were there last night.  The woman we lead out screaming was NOT one of our actors.  But she was incredibly brave and did go through it again later in the evening.  I wish I could share stories of people of have lost control and urinated on themselves, but I would never share names but the patients consider it a badge of honor if it happens in their area.  Tonight should be exceptionally busy.  Hope to see you there.

What a busy weekend.  We have had so many visitors and the patients do so enjoy the company.  We finally got a picture of little Eugene sneaking out of his coffin.  I am torn on whether to share it with you, it seems death has not been kind to him.  The gatekeeper has taken on his duties with an unusual enthusiasm which is a little disturbing to some visitors.  It seems each week new characters appear and changes occur to the asylum which is a quite a surprise to our return visitors.  I will never cease to be amazed that people get so scared they run through walls and occasionally leave small puddles behind.  When you come to visit please understand that there may be a bit of a wait to get in there are just so many people who want to visit us, it seems that the earlier you come to visit, the less of a wait that you have.

After posting to our facebook page there is not as much to say here.  Eugene was a little scoundrel last night and arranged a most unexpected surprise for me, but it is not every day you turn 467 years old.  Renee has suddenly disappeared from the Cemetery last night and was replaced by the ghost of Eugene's great grandmother Michelle.  Michelle is far more frightening and is a bit of a biter.  So keep your hands close....she has a deep love for lady fingers.  We continue to plan more surprises for you in the days ahead.  We look forward to having you in our home.

I am afraid we have not been able to control the patients very well this week and as a result, you may encounter additional "surprises" during your visit.  While it is always our goal to keep you as safe as possible it seems last weekend some people had a horrible fright.  At least 2 different groups of visitors were so startled they actually went through the walls to get away and several others have attempted to claw there way through.  I have tried to warn you that this experience is not for the faint of heart.  As a result of this we are strengthening the walls, it seems only fair since we have increased the number of patients available for you to visit with.  They do so love your company.

The visitors were abundant and the patients were almost well behaved.  We have decided that each weekend you should be allowed encounters with different patients just to make your lives more interesting.  Our Mother Superior Agnes seemed to cause quite the stir among the visitors.  She would never hurt you, but struggles with her need to keep you close to her...at least a part of you.  Thank you for your patience as we worked through small challenges this weekend, unfortunately for you, they were all resolved which may make your visit just a little more traumatic.  If you would like to write to me and offer comments and suggestion, please do so by clicking HERE.  Do not be surprised if they make it to my journal.

I waited until today to warn you....This is Grimmly the grounds keeper...I waited until today to warn you.  Dr Jones is not as nice as he seems.  I will try and help you while you are here.  In the maze, you will know it is me, by the whisper so you will have to listen carefully.  I may not be able to save all of you, the patients are so.....hungry.  But I will try.  I have to go before Dr Jones returns.  If you get lost in the maze....call for me.  Good Luck
